WSOE announces new Dota 2 edition
Although the announcement is made on an April’s fool day, the news is real. WSOE will host this April their second Dota 2 event iteration in Las Vegas, at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort and Casino.
WSOE confirmed only the dates for now, which are April 13th and 14th, but judging on the event format, Team Serenity, the WSOE defending Champions should be expected to be invited to defend their golden necklaces.
WSOE appeared on the Dota 2 scene for the first time back in October 2018, when Richard Lewis also made his Dota 2 event hosting debut as well. The event has quickly got the fans’ attention due to its fresh content, great production value and relaxed environment.
Eight teams got invited last year to Las Vegas to duke it out in a one-day group stage and one-day playoff for the lion’s share of $100,000. The only Chinese team to attend the event last year was Team Serenity, who took down in the playoffs stage The Final tribe and J.Storm to claim the title. The WSOE events concept is taking inspiration from boxing and mixed martial arts, where the previous edition belt holders are coming to defend it at subsequent events. No team has confirmed as of yet their participation at this second Dota 2 edition of WSOE, but with just under two weeks to go before the event is live from the ARIA Resort and Casino PokerGO Studio, all the details should be known soon. Stay tuned!
